ITINERARY 

DAY 1 – Arrival in Istanbul

You will arrive to the New Istanbul Airport. Here, you willmeet our warm Tubos Tourism Travel agency employee to get a transfer to your authentic hotel. You will stay in Istanbul for that night.

DAY 2 – Istanbul ( Istanbul 1985 )

Your Private UNESCO Cultural Heritage Turkey Tour will start. For your travel Turkey to begin, you will meet with your experience and private tour guide at 09:00am at the hotel reception.The tour will start with the Topkapi Palace. The palace was the main palace of the Ottoman Sultans starting from the 15th century until the 19th century. During the palace tour, you will visit the glamours jewels, crystals, silver pieces and porcelains with high value as well as the sultan’s clothes and relics of Mohammed the Prophet. After giving a lunch break, your tour will continue with Blue Mosque also known as Sultanahmet Mosque. The mosque was commissioned by Sultan Ahmet I. The mosque is unique in terms of architecture as there are six minarets and with 20,000 beautiful blue Iznik tiles that gives the name to the mosque. After the mosque, you will see the ancient Hippodrome, Obelisk of Theodosius, Snake Pillar and German Fountain of Wilhelm II. DAY 3 – Istanbul – Bursa ( Bursa and Cumalıkızık 2014 )

On the day 3 of your Private UNESCO Cultural Heritage Turkey Tour to enjoy Turkey tourism, you will start the day with breakfast. Then, you will leave the hotel to go to Bursa, another city in Turkey. You will take the ferry to Yalova, then drive to Bursa. In this city, you will see the early 15th century Green Mosque and the Green Tomb which is the burial location of Sultan Mehmet I in 1421. This mosque is important with its imperial significance Mosque as well as its architecture with 20 domes and 12 giant pillars. You will have your lunch in a famous Kebab Restaurant to taste the authentic food. Our last stop today will be the famous Bazaar and Kozahan which are the silk caravanserais. You will transfer to your hotel when your Bursa tour is completed. You will stay in Bursa for that night.

DAY 4 – Bursa – Safranbolu ( Safranbolu City Karabuk 1994 )

On the 5th day, you will travel to Iznik (Ancient Nicaea) after having your breakfast at the hotel. Iznik was the capital of the Byzantine Empire and it has been an important spot for Christianity around 325. When you arrive in this city, you will pass the ancient gates of the city to enter. The city walls surround Iznik are mostly preserved and offer an impressive scene. Then, you will visit the important ancient monuments in the city which are Hagia Sophia of Nicaea and the Mosque that has tiled minarets. When you take your lunch, you will set your journey to Safranbolu. Safranbolu is an open-air museum famous for its authentic houses which were mostly built in the late 19th century. These houses show the unique civil architectural tradition in the region. You will stay in Safranbolu for that night.

DAY 5 – Safranbolu – Hattusa

Our travel to Turkey tour will continue with Safranbolu. Safranbolu was an important city located on the Silkroad for more than 700 years. Here, you will see the marketplace, Fest-Hill Hidirlik and the Governmental House which represent a fine example of a typical traditional Ottoman building. You will leave for Hattusa. You will stay in Corum for that night.

DAY 6 – Hattusa –Sivas ( Hattusa Bogazkoy corum 1986 )

HITTITES – HATTUSHA – ALACAHOYUK & YAZILIKAYA – SIVAS

On the 7th day, you will visit Alacahöyük and Hattusa which are the important cities of the ancient Hittite Civilisation. Hattusa was the capital of the Hittite civilisations. Hattusa dates back to the 3rd century B.C. The city was the main settlement area of an Anatolian tribe Hatti. The origins of this tribe are unknown. The city played an important role as itconnected the Egyptians with the Hittites. The historic Battle of Kadesh also took place in this city. The war resulted in truce since there was not a definite winner. This truce is believed to be the first truce in the human history. 4000 years old Hittite City Hattusa has the famous Lion Gate, the Great Temple and other grandiose structures. After visiting Hattusa, you will visit Yazilikaya Shrine which is a Hittite Pantheon dedicated to gods and goddesses of that civilisation. The shrine is built on recesses in the rock facing northeast and east to create open-air galleries. There are male figures on the west and female figures on the east of the northeast recess. The are warrior carvings on the east gallery. The opposite wall of the east gallery has a giant relief with a king in the embrace of his patron. After visiting this important shire, you will drive to Sivas. You will spend the night in Sivas.

DAY 7 – Sivas – Erzurum ( Divrigi Ulu Camii ve Darussıfası Sıvas 1985 )

This day, you will start your journey to Divrigi. Here, you will visit the Divrigi Mosque and Hospital. The hospital here is an important architectural complex that was built in the 13th century. In this architectural complex, the ornaments on the portal that has geometric and plant figures, the Minber and the interior design display the unique characteristics of the Seljuk period architectural applications. There are four portals with detailed sacred trees, rosettes, ornamental plaques, the double-headed eagle, falcons, floral and geometric shape decorations. These decorations and ornaments remind us the Persian Stucco and Armenian Manuscripts. The architectural complex is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List for these ornamentations and decorations. You will start your journey to Erzurum in the afternoon.When you arrive the city, you will visit Cifte Minare and Yakutiye Medrese. You will spend some free time in Rustem Pasha Bedesten which is an important place for jet stone jewellery. You will stay in Erzurum for the night.

DAY 8 – Erzurum – Kars – Ani ( Ani archeologic area Kars 2016 )

After having your breakfast at the hotel, you will start your journey to Kars where you will visit the Ani archeologic area. In your travel Turkey adventure, you will go to Ani which is an old architectural site dating back to the 5th century AD. This place was the Armenian capital in 806. From here, you will go to Sarikamis which was a famous place for Tsars of Russia to rest. You will have your dinner and stay in Sarikamis.

DAY 9 – Kars – Diyarbakır ( Diyarbakır Castle and Hevsel Gardens 2015 )

From Sarikamis, you will start your journey to Diyarbakir. The city is an ancient settlement with 5000 years of history which makes it one of the oldest cities around the world. Diyarbakir has high Kurdish population. The city is known for its ancient city walls which were built by the Romans. The walls are huge black basalt blocks. Following the Great Wall of China, this wall is considered as the longest continuous defensive wall around the world. You will stay in Diyarbakir for the night.

DAY 10 – Diyarbakır Urfa (Gobeklıtepe Archeologic Area 2018 )

From Diyarbakir, you will leave for Sanliurfa. You will visit Gobeklitepe an important archeologic area following your lunch. The data, which were obtained as a result of the excavations continued uninterrupted since 1995 show that Göbeklitepe was a cult center, made by mankind and dated to approximately 12,000 years before present. It is composed of approximately 20 round and oval structures, reaching 30 m in diameter. 6 of them have been exposed in excavations and others were identified by surveys in geomagnetic and radar methods. The results of excavations and surveys showed that Göbeklitepe was a 12,000 years old major meeting centre composed of monumental structures built for ceremonial purposes, instead of spaces of daily life. Dinner and overnight in Sanliurfa.

DAY 11 – Urfa – Kahta

In Sanliurfa, you will start your tour from Mevlid Halil Mosque, the Cave of Prophet Abraham. After these places, you will go to the sacred fish pool. Today, you will give free time in the Old Bazaar. Then, you will drive to Harran which is known as the city Abraham the Prophet. Here, in your travel to Turkey, you will visit the fortress, the Islamic school complex and houses with interesting architecture. You will go to Kahta and stay here for the night.

DAY 12 – Nemrut – Cappadocia ( Mount Nemrut 1987 )

You will go up to the peak of Mt.(Nemrut). This mountain is among the most popular UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Sites. There are giant head statues and ancient deity statues at the top of the mountain. To reach the summit of the mountain, you will take a small minibus. This amazing landmark is 8000 ft high and gives an amazing view. There are statues on top of the mountain in the plain area. The entire site was commissioned by Antiochus about 2000 years ago for the purpose of building a monument for his divine ancestry. You will visit the old Arsemeia castle, walk over the Cendere Bridge (Septimius Severus bridge) from the 3rd century which is still used today and Tumulus Tomb of Karakus. Then, you will go back to your hotel to have your breakfast. You will go to Kahraman Maras to taste the famous ice-cream. After that, you will drive to Cappadocia to stay for the night.

DAY 13 – Cappadocia (Goreme National Park and Cappadocia )

Cappadocia is an important place among the Turkey tourism destinations. You will start your tour with Kaymaklı Underground City. This underground city is considered as an interesting underground settlement in Cappadocia. From there, you will go to Sahinefendi (Sobesos). Here, you will see Mosaic Art and Archaeological excavation site from the Byzantine Period. The valley villages with mountains around them gives us a spectacular view. Our next stop will be Keslik Monastery near Cemil. The ancient frescos are hidden behind a smoke layer. Here, you will visit Mustafapaşa (Sinasos) which is an old Roman town with its old houses. These houses are the great examples of late Roman settlements and architecture in the region. Our next stop will be the Red Valley. The valley consists of incredible volcanic rock formations. This valley is at the centre of Cappadocia. Still, the valley is not overcrowded by tourists. You will spend the night at Cappadocia.

DAY 14 – Cappadocia

After breakfast, you will continue to discover Cappadocia. You will go to Devrent valley to see the rock formations. You will go back in time with troglodyte houses. Then, you will visit Pasabag which has “fairy chimneys”. Here, you can even hear the “songs of fairies” near Zelve. You will take your lunch in Avanos which is the centre of red pottery since 3000 BC. Here, you will witness the traditional pottery craftsmanship. In the afternoon, you will go to Goreme Open Air Museum. The museum is home to incredible examples of the Byzantine art in Cappadocia. There are churches carved in the rocks with frescoes and paintings created betyouen the 10th and the 13th century. Our next stop in your tour will be Uchisar Rock- Castle which gives a panoramic view of the Cappadocian valleys. You will stay in Cappadocia for the night.

DAY 15 – Cappadocia – Konya Catalhoyuk – Antalya ( Catalhoyuk Neolithic City 2012 )

On the next day, you will start your journey to Konya. On your way to Konya, you will visit the Sultanhani Caravanserai. The caravanserai was used as a roadside inn for the travellers to rest and recover during the journeys. The caravanserai had commerce, information and people all around the trade routes between Asia, North Africa and South-Eastern Europe. The caravanserai was at the heart of the Silk Road and the Spice road which were the important trading routes of the ancient times. You will visit Mevlana Sufi temple in Konya city centre. Mevlana is an important figure in the city and around the world as the founder of Sufism and whirling Dervishes. After visiting this important place, you will start your journey to Catalhoyuk. This archaeological site is located on Konya Plain. It is located in the southeast of modern-day Konya (ancient Iconium). Our journey will approximately take 140 km (87 mi) towards the twin-coned volcano Mount Hasan. Catalhoyuk dates back to Neolithic and Chalcolithic times in the southern Anatolia and it is an important place dating back to 7500 BC to 5700 BC. The archeologic site is one of the best-preserved and the largest Neolithic site. Then, you will drive to Antalya and spend the night here.

DAY 16 – Antalya

If your travel Turkey, Antalya is an important destination. Here, you will start your tour with Perge. This city was originally a Hittite settlement dating back to around 1500 BC. Here, you will see incredible and well-preserved streets, public baths, nymphaeum, and agora. Also, you will see the fountain dedicated to the River God. The waters of this river once poured down to the heart of the city. Our tour will continue with Aspendos which has one of the best-conserved amphitheatres in the world. Also, you will visit the famous Kursunlu waterfalls and the Antalya Museum. You will stay in Antalya for the night.

DAY 17 – Antalya – Kas

From your journey from Antalya to Kas, you will visit the Myra Lycian tombs and the Church of St. Nicholas (Santa Claus). After a breath-taking journey from a scenic coastline, your next stop will be Phaselis. The city has an amazing harbour, Roman theatre and aqueduct. You will stay in Kas for the night.

DAY 18 – Kas – Pamukkale ( Xanthos Letoon 1998 )

On your next day, you will start your tour from Xanthos Patara Letoon. Here, you will see one of the most important cities of the Lycian civilisations Xanthos which was the capital of Lycians. Xanthos Ancient City is approximately 46 kms away from modern-day Fethiye. Xanthos Ancient Lycian City has the amazing works of the Lycian, Roman and Byzantine art. When you complete your tour in Xanthos, you will go to the Patara Beach. The beach s next to the Xanthos Ancient City. Patara Beach is important as it is the longest beach of Turkey with 18 kms coastline and sandy beach characteristic. You will give a short break to swim and relax on Patara Beach. Then, you will head to your last stop of the day which is the Letoon Ancient City. Letoon Ancient City is a Lycian city known for its religious properties. Here, you will see religious structures such as Temple of Leto (Apollo’s mother), Apollon and Artemis as well as the monastery. You will stay in Pamukkale for the night.

DAY 19 – Pamukkale – Kusadasi ( Pamukkale Hierapolis 1988 – Afrodisias 2017 )

On this day, you will continue your travel to Turkey with travertine terraces and Hierapolis city. The travertine terraces are located in Pamukkale. These terraces are among the spectacular wonders of nature with their white colour. The terraces are formed by the minerals in the springs. They form a 200 m calcite waters ponds in the terraces. This look gives a fairyland-like look with different terrace levels and shell-shaped basins. This scene looks like a snow-covered hills or cotton cover terraces. This is why this region is called Pamukkale which means cotton castle in Turkey. The colour of the basin changes depending on the angle of the sunrays. After Pamukkale, you will drive for Ephesus. On your way, Aphrodisias is one the places you will see. Aphrodisias cist is famous for being a centre for arts. Especially, sculpture was a top characteristic. The Aphrodisias School of Sculpture had a unique style and was well-known across the Greek and Roman world. You will move to Priene. Although Ephesus is the most famous cities in the Aegean region, Priene which is not as popular is an important ancient settlement in this region. Priene is located to view the Meander Valley and the amazing temple in the city is in a good condition. You will stay in Kusadasi for the night as it is close to Ephesus.

DAY 20 – Ephesus ( Ephesus Izmir 2015 )

On this day, you will visit Ephesus. You will follow the footsteps of famous ancient individuals such as Alexander the Great, Caesar, Cicero, Apostles Paul and John and many others in this city. Terrace Houses which require an extra entry fee shows the wealthiest Roman. The terrace houses are in an amazing condition. The mosaics and frescos in these houses are incredible. It is believed that the Virgin Mary was brought here by St John after the Crucifixion. It is believed that she spends her last years near Ephesus on an isolated mountaintop. For commemorate her, Franciscans constructed a chapel. The chapel is open for visitors. Pope has designated this chapel as a pilgrimage site for the Christians. You will visit the Temple of Artemis which is regarded as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. You will stay in Kusadasi for the night as it is close to Ephesus.

DAY 21 – Bergama – Canakkale ( Bergama Multilayer Cultural Landscape Area Izmir 2014 )

On this day, you will drive to Pergamon or also known as Pergamum. This place was an important kingdom during the Hellenistic period. Pergamon is known to have the second- best library after the library of Alexandria during the ancient Greek period. The library was called the ancient Library of Pergamum. When papyrus export was halted by the Ptolemies which is caused by competitors and shortages, the people of Pergamon invented a new substance to be used as a paper in the codices. This substance was called pergaminus or parchment as you know it. Fine calf skin which was the predecessor of vellum was the main ingredients. Asclepion is located in the loyour city on the southwest of the lower city and there is a sanctuary for God of Health. Asclepics was one of the largest hospitals in ancient times. The hospital was on the west part of the city. The city was an important culture, art and medicine centre in the ancient days. You will go to Canakkale to spend the night.

DAY 22 – Canakkale – Troy – Edirne ( Troya Ancient City 1998 )

DAY 23 – Edirne – Istanbul ( Selimiye Mosque and Islamic Social Complex )

After having your breakfast in your hotel, you will discover the Edirne city centre. You will visit the famous Selimiye Mosque that has a magnificent large dome and 4 narrow minarets. The mosque is an important work of art in the former Ottoman capital. The embellished interior area shows the meticulous and detailed craftsmanship. The marble courtyard and high-quality Iznik tiles are the best example of manufacturing of those times. This mosque is the amazing architectural success of the famous Architect Sinan and one of the best examples of an Ottoman Islamic Social Complex. One of the landmarks of UNESCO World Historical Site List, the old city centre as well as the old mosque, Ali pasha Arasta bazaar and Sultan Beyazid II complex are the places you will see. You will also visit Darüssifa which was a mental treatment centre in the Ottoman times that used water and sound to calm the sick people. You will have your lunch in a traditional Turkish restaurant in the old city centre. Then, you will visit Edirne grand synagogue which is a historical Sephardi synagogue. You will visit Dolmabahçe Palace with an amazing Bosporus view. The interior decoration of the palace is impressive with 14-ton gold ornaments.
