Turkish Bath & Hamam & SPA
Following a bustling day in Cappadocia, you can unwind and relax by experiencing a traditional Turkish hammam and spa.
In Ottoman-Turkish baths, much like Roman baths, the experience goes beyond mere bathing; it’s an enjoyable affair. The roots of the Turkish Bath can be traced back through history, stemming from Byzantine and Roman Baths, and even reaching further into the ancient Bronze Age civilizations of Anatolia. Bathing has been a practice since ancient times, but during the era of the Ottoman Empire, it evolved into a ritual that not only cleansed the body but also rejuvenated the soul.
The facilities are constructed in a traditional Oriental design, characterized by expansive, well-lit spaces with vaulted ceilings. The interior is adorned exclusively with marble. The ambient temperature is maintained at a maximum of 55°C, with humidity levels reaching 100%. Unless you’ve booked a private service, there are separate areas for men and women. Nudity is strictly prohibited, and towels or sheets are always provided at the entrance for all visitors. You also have the option to bring your own bikini or shorts for added comfort.
SERVICES
Typically, in Cappadocia’s Turkish baths, visitors are allowed to spend approximately 10 to 20 minutes in the sauna before proceeding to the main bath area. Before entering the sauna, an optional clay face mask is applied. After cleansing the face, you may enter the hammam where skilled massage therapists await. The session begins with a natural-material pouch exfoliation to remove dead skin, followed by a 30-minute massage using traditional white soap. The therapists also assist with rinsing. If desired, guests can opt for an additional oily massage, and those who wish can extend their time in the hot marble area of the hammam. Upon completion, herbal teas are served, and you may retrieve your personal items from the lockers in the dressing rooms before departure.
This facility represents the art of preserving and enhancing beauty and youthfulness. Regular visits to the bath can contribute to strengthening the immune system and enhancing the overall condition of the skin.
